Greetings, my name is Marrwho Hasati.
I'm a lifelong artist on a journey to use my creative abilities to produce art that uplifts.
Born and raised in the south side of Seattle, I grew up within a family where I was surrounded by art and artists. After high school, I attended the Northwest College of Arts and Design in Poulsbo, WA. where I graduated in 2004 with a Bachelors in Fine Arts. In 2005, I moved to Chicago, IL. to pursue higher learning and I worked at the Art Institute of Chicago and eventually served as the art director and lead designer of a grass roots non profit cultural organization based in west Africa until 2020.
Coming from a mixed ethnic background, I have always had a great interest in culture and identity which led me to trace my mother's ancestral lineage to west Africa. From 2006 - 2019, I made several visits to the Motherland (Burkina Faso, Togo, Benin & Ghana) in order to continue the reclamation of my ancestral heritage. In experiencing the rich cultures and traditions, it impacted me greatly and thus influenced my art.
I now currently reside back in Seattle and have began a new chapter in my life and I am excited to continue to share my art journey with you, I hope you enjoy!
